Board of Christian Schools

Trinity Lutheran School is a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church. The Board of Christian Schools is responsible for the operation of the day school under policies adopted by the Voters' Assembly and is responsible for the administration of such policies to the church. The Voters' Assembly elects the Board members. The Board of Christian Schools meets the fourth Wednesday of each month. A list of current board members and their contact information can be found in the School Directory.

The Principal

The principal, with the help of the faculty, suggest changes and policies for improvement and welfare of the school. It is the principal's responsibility to see that the policies of the Board of Christian Schools and the congregation are carried out within the school. The principal is the permanent advisory member.

Teaching Staff

A called teacher is one who has been trained at a Missouri Synod college/ university or who have obtained called status by way of the colloquy program. (The teacher has a degree from a secular college, but has taken an additional prescribed course of study under the auspices of a Lutheran university.) Qualified Lutheran teachers teach God's Word together with a prescribed course of study leading to entrance into high school. All of Trinity's teachers are state certified or are in the process of achieving state certification.

The calling body of Trinity Lutheran Church is the Voters' Assembly. The voters may call a candidate who is currently teaching at another Lutheran school or they may call a teacher who is graduating from one of the Lutheran universities. Calling a new graduate normally involves the Placement Committee of the Synod rather than a direct call to the candidate.

Accreditation

Trinity is one of over 1,500 Missouri Synod Lutheran schools in North America and one of 24 schools in the Southern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our school maintains standards in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education and is officially recognized according Policy and Guidelines for Registration and Recognition of Non-public Schools.

In addition to the recognition by the State of Illinois, Trinity Lutheran School is accredited by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod through the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation organization.
